Passenger Trains > Follow-up to Shootout on Metra

Thsi morning's Chicago Tribune has a follow-up story on the shootout between a murder suspect and police on a Metra train last weekend:

Plan was to detain the suspect after he left the train at the Lake-Cook station in Deerfield, IL. When he did not exit the train, the police boarded and attempted to arrest him leading to the shootout.

A satisfactory end, both to the suspect and to the incident   Had he escaped, he would have been among the public again...a dangerous felon who already had taken a life in anger, no asset to society.

As was pointed out in the original thread:

(EDITED: Parts of) Chicago are a jungle, out of control.  

And we complain about Amtrak there!   :-)

Consealed carry has been legal in Chicago for several years now. And gun violence has risen considerably since then. Are the two related? 

Back on topic, I don't know why they held the train at the Lake-Cook station so long. Since the shootout was contained in the Metra coach, the train could have been moved ANYWHERE for the investigation to be completed.

Maybe not, if the Deerfield, IL police had jurisdiction over the crime scene.

legal concealed carry laws and being APPROVED for concealed carry permits are 2 very different things........

No, they aren't.

If that was true, there wouldn't be anyone left standing just a few miles away in Indiana.
