Delays due to weather hampering the freight line's switches and equipment....like how it delayed everything else. Old news, not even worth posting.

Gene:
Thank you for posting.
I like to keep a rough mental sample of how the nation's railroads are faring by seeing how Amtrak is doing.
(Also your post might be very useful to someone who may be meeting someone, travelling, or wanting to take a picture.)

Hardly. Amtrak's flagship service now annulling service? It's a big deal getting punched in the belly of the cash cow.

The report was correct.

52(11) and 53(11) are not operating.  AutoTrain can now get a clean, on-time start on January 12, hopefully
to operate in-slot.

Who cares if you're retired?  Who cares that I run it now and then.  It's irrelevant.

Canceling the train sucks, but when the weather affecting the infastructure puts both trains so far behind schedule, then it makes sense to cancel the train, the same thing that gets done to others around the nation.  Its better to inconvience a few hundred folks to cancel for a day than to continue to inconvience thousands taking 5-7 days to get back onto schedule....assuming the weather doesnt contiune to plague the trains.

The cause was already well established that the winter storm took such a hit on the NC/VA area.  It hampering the freight network and their own efforts to move their trains makes it even worse.  My train 97 was delayed over 6hrs before I finally got it in FLO.  So when the author of this posts the cause as "CAUSE:", he refuses to acknowledge the cause of the delay and hopes folks will maybe think like this is Amtrak's fault because they didnt research it and took it for granted.
