I suppose we were very lucky to slip through after being picked up at Shelby March 12th.. Between Whitefish and Spokane, No. 7 played crew van, picking up and dropping off freight crews at remote sidings in the Kootena River Canyon all night. It was a calm moonlit evening as we proceeded West, even pulling into sidings behind other trains, then backing out to continue our quest for a warmer climate n the golden land of California.
