In theory, anyway, based on the shorter distance. I wonder what the locals think about the geography.

I took a lot of flak from my Silicon Valley colleagues years ago when I didn't fall for the Segway hype. Even if an idea is "viable," success is not guaranteed.

Not quite 200 miles is a good distance to try out. Portland is very transit oriented  and Seattle is OK on that too, so you have distribution systems on either side.  It's one thing to compete with highway, but you also have a rail corridor to go up against. Will people give up the train and the headways of a fixed schedule to be shot through a tube almost on demand and with a 15 minute travel time? If people won't use Hyperloop in the PNW, they probably won't use it anywhere.

I'm guessing that in most places it could be squeezed onto the I-5 ROW if people don't object to the "visual pollution".
