Passenger Trains > Gotta Be Up Early to See It Late

Both east and westbound Amtrak Southwest Chiefs (trains 3 and 4) pass through Needles CA in the middle of the night. Thus, even when they are running quite late, you still have to be up early to catch one. Such was the case with the westbound Chief which arrived in Needles on 04/19/17 in the ballpark of 5 hours late. I went to Arrowhead Jct., about 17 miles west of Needles along BNSF's Needles Subdivision, where it passed through at 5:50am. The morning sun has awaken, but still hasn't quite gotten up yet.

Very nice. I think you also got lucky in catching an automobile crossing the tracks as there can not be much traffic in that area.
