Passenger Trains > Pair of chargers on San Joaquin #710Date: 05/26/17 13:58 Pair of chargers on San Joaquin #710 Author: Jared Southbound San Joaquin 710 just came through Shafter, CA with 2 Chargers and 1 Amtrak locomotive. Curious as to why they are both on the train. Will 710 turn as 719 northbound? Would like to get a pic in Wasco if possible. Thanks for any help.

I guess that the much longer run to Bakersfield is easier for breaking in than several short Capitol runs to Sacramento. They are not certified to lead yet, so they run as trailing units with other Amtrak or Amtrak CA units.
I am told the train turns as 717, but I do not know that for sure. I shot them this morning in Bay Point but the power had been out all morning, so I haven't had a chance to download the photos. Hope they stay on 710 tomorrow.

I'm don't think 710 turns as 717, because I think 717 leaves Bakersfield before 710 arrives. 719 is more likely. John Date: 05/26/17 17:29 Re: Pair of chargers on San Joaquin #710 Author: mundo 710 turns as 719 from Jan consist book.
