Passenger Trains > Pennsylvanian Not Held for Capitol TodayDate: 06/26/17 07:24 Pennsylvanian Not Held for Capitol Today Author: mp16 If only the Capitol had arrived about 20-30 mins earlier passengers hoping to transfer to the Pennsylvanian might have had good luck
Capitol arrived Pittsburgh this morning 3 hrs., 01 min. late at 8:06 am.. # 42 departed OT at 7:30 am Date: 06/26/17 07:29 Re: Pennsylvanian Not Held for Capitol Today Author: Lackawanna484 Amtrak is very conscious of getting the Pennsylvanian out of town, based on its contract with the state.
What made the Capitol train 3 hours late? Date: 06/26/17 07:30 Re: Pennsylvanian Not Held for Capitol Today Author: toledopatch If it was just a handful of passengers making the connection, they probably could be taxied to Altoona to catch up with their train....
Date: 06/26/17 07:40 Re: Pennsylvanian Not Held for Capitol Today Author: joemvcnj It left:
Chicago 1 hr 15 mine late, Toledo 1 hr 44 min late, Cleveland 2 hr 43 min late arrived PGH 3 hours late after 30 - 40 minutes padding. While NS was handed a late train out of Chicago, it got more and more delayed all along the way. Amtrak needs to put some Penn Central style warnings in their schedules for trains like this one that are chronically hours late and to document who the host railroad is. The Pennsylvanian could make up a half hour into Harrisburgh. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 06/26/17 07:44 by joemvcnj. The equipment arrived in Chicago about an hour and fifteen minutes late. It's possible the shop was short staffed on a Sunday, but they took the same amount of time they would usually take to make an on time arrival into an on time departure. Why they kept loosing time is a good question.

Date: 06/26/17 11:35 Re: Pennsylvanian Not Held for Capitol Today Author: joemvcnj To warn passengers to not put much stock in the printed schedule in case they have to actually be somewhere by a given time, not just sometime on a given day. It's called customer service.

It's called customer service. Passengers these days tend not to look at schedules; only at the departure and arrival time. Date: 06/26/17 14:31 Re: Pennsylvanian Not Held for Capitol Today Author: joemvcnj They know when they are supposed to get to their destination.
