Passenger Trains > Have A SeatDate: 06/26/17 07:42 Have A Seat Author: walstib Benches that once provided a place to sit for generations of train passengers at Southern Pacific's 16th Street Station in Oakland, sit crammed in an office at the abandoned station, waiting for trains that will never again call here.

Date: 06/26/17 08:30 Re: Have A Seat Author: walstib It's about mid-way between the two, maybe a smidge closer to Emeryville.

As for the location, it's just south of the 80/580/880 interchange that leads to the Bay Bridge. When 880 was rebuilt, the station lost it's tracks and was replaced by the Emeryville and Jack London Square statins. Both are nice, and I never got to go inside 16th, but they just don't compare. But the developers who own the depot hope to rehabilitate the building at some point, so I doubt the furnishings are going anywhere. Posted from iPhone |
