Passenger Trains > Musk receives gov't approval for NYC-DC HyperloopDate: 07/20/17 22:46 Musk receives gov't approval for NYC-DC Hyperloop Author: Geodyssey (according to Musk, that is)
https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/888053175155949572 "Just received verbal govt approval for The Boring Company to build an underground NY-Phil-Balt-DC Hyperloop. NY-DC in 29 mins." "City center to city center in each case, with up to a dozen or more entry/exit elevators in each city." ------------------------------ Musk is a grifter, but still not in the same league as CA High Speed Rail. Date: 07/21/17 13:03 Re: Musk receives gov't approval for NYC-DC Hyperloop Author: MojaveBill I just read some news reports quoting local government folks who say they haven't heard anything from Musk about his toad in the hole transportation system
Bill Deaver Tehachapi, CA Date: 07/21/17 13:23 Re: Musk receives gov't approval for NYC-DC Hyperloop Author: co614 Best of all is that in order to qualify for DOT funding it will be a coal fired steam experience so that it causes a new demand for coal which reopens lots of mines and puts thousands of miners back to work according to an announcement just made by the White House.
When asked how folks will be able to breathe in the hyperloop tube with all the coal smoke the White House spokesman said that President Trump will figure that out later. Coal stocks are rallying sharply !!! Ross Rowland P.S. President Trump just announced that as to the breathing issue in the tube...it's not a problem as the hyperloop will be so fast you'll be able to hold your breath till you get there. He went on to say that the rumors of Donald Trump Jr. buying up all the real estate around the areas where the new hyperloop stations will be located are true and that there will be grand Trump Towers near each one. More soon. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/21/17 13:28 by co614. Date: 07/21/17 13:36 Re: Musk receives gov't approval for NYC-DC Hyperloop Author: wtsherman100 This guy is so into his reputation as a visionary "do-er" that the media goes crazy over every one of his ideas whether they make sense or not. How much would a $250 miles tunnel from NYC>DC cost Mr. Musk? Its going to cost $20B just to get two tunnels under the Hudson from NJ. This is going to be 250' underground and go for 250 miles? My guess is somewhere between $500B and $5T.
We can't get roads that aren't patched, we can't get trains that run faster than $135mph on the NEC, we can't get airports and air traffic control into the 21st century and we're going to build this pile of crap? What a joke, never going to happen and a bunch of press people who know nothing about construction or transportation are buying into this guys need for PR. Go away Elon, how about producing a profit at Tesla? This decade? This century? Date: 07/21/17 19:04 Re: Musk receives gov't approval for NYC-DC Hyperloop Author: 567Chant Great idea.
Where will the depots be located? Where will the spoil be dumped? Just two minor details. ...Lorenzo Date: 07/21/17 19:32 Re: Musk receives gov't approval for NYC-DC Hyperloop Author: railstiesballast One more annoying little detail:
Life Safety How would passengers be evacuated if it broke down? Every agency that would consider this project will ask that question. Date: 07/21/17 20:57 Re: Musk receives gov't approval for NYC-DC Hyperloop Author: cchan006 wtsherman100 Wrote:

It's even more specific than that. His fanboys were brainwashed by the financial media, because of how much money Elon helped them make. Silicon Valley is full of "visionaries" who are worshipped like a cult. That doesn't change the actual things he has accomplished, but as I've been ranting recently, we are dealing with people (especially the fanboys) who can't think past money here.
