Date: 11/20/17 13:45 Re: Calgary Flames travel in style Author: mns019 Very nice, but I would have been more impressed if they had traveled in their chartered train to Washington DC from CALGARY!.
Date: 11/20/17 13:45 Re: Calgary Flames travel in style Author: andersonb109 Back in the day, those wouldn't have been fake cigars! When two teams traveled on the same overnight train, say between Montreal and Chicago after a Saturday night Hab's win, it is told that no player from the opposing team would enter the diner if members of the hated other team were there. How times have changed. Now the players hang out with opposing team members and of course there are no trains with proper diners between any of the the "original six" cities and only sleepers between Chicago and NY/Boston which take way longer than in the Original Six days. It should also be noted, that even when not dressed in vintage attire, NHL players all look like the professionals they are when arriving at the various arenas, not like their NBA and NFL counterparts who have no regard for the cities they represent given their appearance.

Just not enough of you or they would still be there 😀 Dave Date: 11/21/17 12:55 Re: Calgary Flames travel in style Author: ctillnc OT but it wasn't so much an attendance failure (http://www.hockeydb.com/nhl-attendance/att_graph.php?tmi=4680) as an arena failure and a TV failure. The Omni was a truly awful place for fans and players alike, and the Flames never had a consistent TV plan. As to why the Thrashers didn't cut it, I moved away from Atlanta in 1986 and I don't have any first-hand knowledge.
