Siemens Chargers have started service for Amtrak Cascades
Author: Marcus

Siemens Charger locomotives have started revenue service for Amtrak Cascades.
Train 510 from Seattle to Vancouver, B.C. had WDTX 1406 on the front and WDTX 1404 on the rear, with three Superliner cars.

The image shows the back of the northbound train along the Fraser River headed for Vancouver, B.C.

Nice touch with a Superliner Sightseer! Normally this train gets a Superliner Cross Country Cafe if subbing for the Talgo set. But the Sightseer car allows for a nice Sightseeing/Lounge for the train. Amazing how this train can get by with just two Superliner coaches when subbing for a Talgo set. Goes to show the efficiency of the Superliners. But the train does get easily sold out! Been there done that when substitution was in place and needed to get to Vancouver, BC.

Yes, the two coaches hold fewer passengers than the Talgo train. The tilting feature of the Talgo makes only a small difference between Vancouver BC and Seattle because of the large amount of it in Canada, where the regulatory agency doesn't believe in tilting trains.
