Passenger Trains > Sometimes the DS gets it rightDate: 11/22/17 17:38 Sometimes the DS gets it right Author: twropr Tonight CSX's NC train dispatcher made a good move. MAPLE LEAF #64 had left Utica, NY 31 min LT but had enough padding in its schedule to make an OT arrival into Albany-Rensselaer IF the dispatcher ran him. Montreal-Selkirk symbol freight Q621 was ahead. The NC crossed Empire Service train #283 from TK 1 (needed to work Amsterdam) to TK 2 so that 621 could continue on TK to CP 207 and head into St. Johnsville siding (on the north side of TK 1). #64 whizzed past on TK 1 and made it A-R only 7 min LT and left A-R OT, even after picking up about 4 coaches for overflow passengers.
Q621 called a signal at MP 186 about the same time that #64 reported leaving Amsterdam (MP 177.6), so the delay to 621 was probably just a few minutes. Btw even the Metrolink Crew urged the DS to send no. 3 ahead of them! |
