Passenger Trains > Amtrak P42 fuel numbersDate: 01/12/18 19:24 Amtrak P42 fuel numbers Author: mp208 Does anyone have an order of magnitude of a P42's fuel consumed per mile with HEP in use?

In another consumption test a unit with an EMD 16-710 engine was metered and found at full throttle, full RPM, and in the short term overload of the alternator was sucking 7 gallons per minute from the tank. Don't know how much of that was going back in the return line though. |
