Passenger Trains > Amtrak 42 late out of pghDate: 02/19/18 11:17 Amtrak 42 late out of pgh Author: rhotond Supposedly left Pgh on time (730) yet did not reach greensburg (nominal 40 minute run time) unitl 10 40 am 2.5 hrs late. When it went through cresson and horseshoe curve (still 2.5 to 3 hrs late) it was being led by two NS SD40E's from the helper pool in Cresson. Luckly it was a light monday hence the availability of helpers, though there is probably some intermodal train working its tail off somewhere between pitcarin (east of pgh) and the summit.
What happened. Hope the Amtrak unit still had HEP or the passengers would be cold and in the dark.\ r Date: 02/19/18 13:42 Re: Amtrak 42 late out of pgh Author: railcity Amtrak 42 is almost 3 hours late now.
Date: 02/19/18 16:21 Re: Amtrak 42 late out of pgh Author: mp109 It arrived into Harrisburg at 3:55 behind NS 6311 & 6313. It didn't leave until 5:18, over 4 hours late. Took a long time to take the NS engines off and attach the protect engine. Had to wait for Keystone train arrivals and departures due to reduced capacity in the station.
