News reports today that a 26-year old software engineer, shot in the back of the head while pulling a friend’s suitcase outside the Amtrak Emeryville station at 9:15 PM on the evening of 11 February, was the victim of a random robbery attempt. The victim is in critical condition in hospital. The perpetrator, who shouted “Give me your money!” , then fired his gun when the victim and his friend continued walking without turning around, escaped on foot.

Terribly sad event. Certainly time to consider increased Amtrak Police presence or private security firm for increased visibility.

That's really sad! Such a blatant disregard for life, thinking that money is more important and getting angry when somebody doesn't just give it to you, is disgusting. Hope the victim recovers and the perpetrator is caught.
