Passenger Trains > Lake Shore Ltd. 49(20) woes

Lost a lot of time between Oneida and Syracuse and in station at Syracuse.

It had the AMTK 103 and 60 out of Rensselaer but only the 103 later on. The 60 was presumably set out.

Yes, one engine malfunctioned and they proceeded at restricted (10mph) speed until the unit could be set out. Single unit took served the rest of the way. Now, if this had been one of those single unit experiments of last year ....

That would be a nightmare if they did that again! Wonder if Anderson's gonna crack down on proper maintenance, that's been plaguing Amtrak for years!

AMTK 60 had a traction motor failure...it birdcaged.

Fortunately it did not totally lock up the axle so it could be limped to Syracuse, at 10mph.
