Passenger Trains > Is Alton--St.Louis track still slow?Date: 04/18/18 08:56 Is Alton--St.Louis track still slow? Author: ronald321 Just wondering if the track from Alton to St. Louis have been improved yet?
The Chicago-St.Louis corridor should open soon--so, will the faster trains still have to go 20mph on this stretch of track? thanks for any help. This section, as well as the Joliet - Chicago section, were not part of the high speed rail construction.
That said, I think I did read that there have been some changes made that allow Amtrak to get through the St. Louis area a little quicker, not sure what they are. My recollection is the mill generated a lot of inbound and outbound rail traffic.
