Posturing by House Freedom Caucus members. Will never happen.

There's about 40 of them.

Perhaps it is vital infrastructure they want be free of, so shut down all interstates in their districts.

Indeed, expecting Republicans to support this project, which is located in mainly Democratic areas and in Sen. Schumer's home state, without some semblance of return cooperation from them at any time and in any area, from tax relief to approving the President's executive branch nominees, is completely understandable. This gridlock is not expected to be broken anytime soon, at least not before the 2018 midterm elections.

Freedom Caucus or Tea Party did not make a fuss like this when Charlotte Light Rail Blue Line extension got 50% FTA funding.

Let's face facts. Trump got out maneuvered by Schumer pure & simple. Retiring Speaker Ryan made a deal with Pelosi/Schumer to get a number of items important to him ( mostly DOD stuff) and in return he agreed to support the Gateway funding by camouflaging it into a bloated Amtrak number that all concerned knew was for the tunnel.

No wonder that the public's opinion of Congress puts it lower that used car salesmen and lawyers.

Cutting through the fog, they're asking President Trump to stop any spending for the tunnel.

Law? Anyone still cares about them law anymore? LOL!

When a President or Congress chooses to ignore laws because "they know better", lots of bad things can happen. Deciding not to enforce this law on marijuana, or that law on bank governance, or not calling foul on a violation of the War Powers Act is wrong. So is ignoring the clear letter of the PRIIA law about food and beverage losses for several years.

I doubt the Freedom Caucus of budget busters will get very far. They did, after all, VOTE for the damned budget bill.

Now's the time for the North Hudson River Tunnel to spring a leak.

I don't believe in government solutions. I have always believed that free markets (something that we do not have in this country) always produce better solutions than government ones. That being said I'm not here to debate economics. We have created a nation that heavily subsidizes transportation, specifically highways and airports, with rail being left to fend for itself. It's just baffling to see the hypocrisy! We have a government which just the other day spent 60 million dollars to bomb Syria without even a thought or declaration of war from congress......but when it comes to domestic projects, we can all just go to hell.

Priorities Mike, priorities.

The longer it takes to get this much needed project going, the bigger the chances of a major disaster happening that'll screw that area over big time, po,itucs at its best!
