Coast Starlight on any rail/webcams?
Author: StarlightRider

Since the Dunsmuir cam is no more here on TO, are there any others that anybody knows about where the Starlights can be viewed? Anywhere between Seattle and Los Angeles.

The compelling reason to watch the Dunsmuir cam was that it captured only when there was a train. Given the unpredictabilty of the Starlight, you would have to watch a long time on the live streaming cameras. A Caltrans camera at the south end of Paso Robles has a clear view of the tracks as they duck under southbound 101--but when to look?

The Coast Starlight only serves California now. Right now the Coast Starlight does not serve Oregon and Washington.

Let's hope that when the Cascade tunnel 11 is fixed Amtrak decides to restore it; not like the Sunset Limited.

Hmm you are very Sadly correct that the Coast Starlight is now
only a Daytime version of the AMtrka SPirit of California running
only Sacrameto to Los angeles CA.
Very sadly MUNDO reported Llast week that ALL jobs area Abolished to support
NORTH of Sacramento SAC to PNW service. Looks like the Sunset east again.

For Good USA Surface MOBILTY we need a Major social politiacl campaign to greatly
EXPAND the NATIONAL Amtrak system -- Triple it in size at least--If not A LOT MORE.
A large amount of Rural and small town america has Never be properly served by Amtrak.
The offical Legal name for amtrak is the NATIONAL Railroad Passeenger Corporation.
Some good stuff t ponder there --Just my two cents.

To triple Amtrak in size would bring passenger railroading back to the size it was the day before Amtrak came into existence, when 2/3 of US passenger trains were summarily discontinued.

I think the track-a-map is working again for now.
