Passenger Trains > Coast Starlight Reduced ConsistsDate: 06/20/18 12:54 Coast Starlight Reduced Consists Author: a6m20 Just looking for answers, so please don't flame me out.
With the Coast Starlight temporarily not having a dining car and sleepers, does the train need two locomotives for motive power? Seems like overkill. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge. Date: 06/20/18 13:55 Re: Coast Starlight Reduced Consists Author: KansasCityChief Yes

When the tunnel is open, we will all see if full service is restored. If not, the Coast Daylight will be the first LD train discontinued (Seattle-San Jose), with the remainder of the route hideously downgraded (San Jose-L.A.). I thought the Chief would be the first--I never thought the Daylight would be his first victim--but the tunnel situation gave him the perfect excuse to yield the ax. I think you will find that Cuesta is the correct spelling—-it is the grade north of San Luis Obispo and is actually redundant as Cuesta in Spanish means grade— 😀 C Carol Voss Bakersfield, CA Date: 06/21/18 07:48 Re: Coast Starlight Reduced Consists Author: NYC4096 If CS is deleted, California/Oregon/Washington pols will become highly pissed.

Tom Trent Eugene, OR Date: 06/21/18 12:54 Re: Coast Starlight Reduced Consists Author: n9949y Well, we residents of Eugene and Oregon’s 4th Congressional District can look to Peter Defazio (D), who is the Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and has supported rail transportation growth in the Pacific Northwest.
That with Talgo growing service from Eugene to Vancouver, BC which in time will probably become a significant North American transportation corridor, we may not have to worry about anti-train cretins, NIMBYs and BANANAS (Build Absolutely Nothing Nowhere for Anything(anybody).
