Gene Skropowski (? sp)  apologized and explained regularly to the CA Capitol Corridor commuters when problems arose. I believe his successor does the same.

Skoropowski... and yes, his successor, David Kutrosky, issues personal apologies as well (“from one Polak to another”— Gene said that when he introduced his replacement!)... Both really good bosses.
