Here is this morning's inaugural BART express service from Auburn CA to the Bay Area. Though some passengers noted that there were some boarding issues, all agreed the service was head and shoulders above commuting by car.

That’s actually the rail and cover for the plug-door mechanism. Instead of doors that slide into the body they are external and have a plug mechanism which compresses them against the body.

The upshot is vastly superior sound levels inside.

More deliveries! These are supposed to be production models. Hope they are in regular service soon.

Not BART's fault in this case. Bombardier living down to its reputation with this order.

BART has direct rail spurs into their yards, so it's surprising they're using trucks.

Bart tracks are broad gauge, so not quite surprising :)

BART has shipped cars by rail before. Most likely was the builder's decision.

I believe this is car #34 in the order of 775.
