Passenger Trains > Roots on the Rails on #22 at AustinDate: 10/09/18 11:12 Roots on the Rails on #22 at Austin Author: Hou74-76 The five private cars shown on the end of #22 today at the Amtrak depot in Austin, TX are part of the "Roots on the Rails" excursion now traveling to points north and west. Crew on board indicated that this was the last run for the Palm Leaf, an old ACF car that ran on the Santa Fe and Amtrak. Nice to see private car movements through Austin still. I hope I can see more.

The first three are LA Rail Cars. Besides the Palm Leaf, all the cars face much reduced use in response to Amtrak's March 2018 strict restrictions on private car travel and very high fees for those that remain.
