Union Pacific Official Car Paintings
Author: tighttrains

In 2012, Union Pacific's 150th Anniversary Business Train with many official cars, including the Lone Star, visited the California State Railroad Museum. I was fortunate enough to tour the train with their Heritage Fleet Manager (Robert ?) as a reward for leading the restoration of UP Official Car 103, ex MP 10.

Several of the cars featured custom paintings of cowboys on horses or western themes commissioned by an artist of that genre. In one of the Lone Star's staterooms, there was a painting with two cowboys on horses. I took a photo of the painting, but don't know who the artist was. Can anyone help with this information?

Specifically, who is the artist of this painting?

Are there any more interior pictures of these cars?

I second this. If UP were nice, they would commission a book about the passenger cars, with history of each car, then photos.

Here are additional photos of the interior of UP 101 Lone Star.  No luck so far on the artist's name.

Not a fan of the bleached wood stain.  That upholstery, well, where's the barf bag?

I'm thankful to see what the inside of these cars look like and would like to see more pictures.

Could it have been Robert Dombrowski? He was responsible as I recall for the Espee fleet of business cars and I worked with him while at Amtrak for the 2000 DNC.

Are you thinking of Robert Andrade?

That's what we thought when we were building it, but whatever Trish Davidson wanted, Trish Davidson got.

Cool pics. I’m thinking the treadmills would be better replaced by lacing up the steel toes and putting some boots on the ROW.

No, I wasn't actually as Dombrowski was in charge of the Espee business cars and in 2000 after a meeting we talked about the Sunset in UP colors.
