Does any one know how many Siemens Chargers are going to LA?

Yes, 2109 to 2122. BUT, 2107 and 2108 can also run in So. Cal, but are primarily Nor Cal units.

Sorry 2106 was incorrect, 2107 and 2108 can be used in Southern California if needed. Both 2107 and 2108 are equipped with the ATS system used on the San Diego portion on the Surfliner corridor. Both 2107 and 2108 are in the Northern California paint scheme, not the Surfliner scheme.

The original Charger order was for the 6 locomotives for Northern California and were not built with the ATS equipment. When Caltrans placed their order for the 16 option locomotives, all 16 received the ATS equipment installation, even though only 14 were intended for the Surfliners.

At a point during the production of the 16 option locomotives, it was decided to modify the paint scheme for the Surfliners, and that is why 2109 and 2110 are a bit different than the 2111-2122.

2107 and 2108 are currently on the Capital Corridor and San Joaquins.

I was able to spot 8 Chargers at the Amtrak shops this morning plus 1 running solo with a low level set as 564. Not sure what 564 turns to at San Diego. So there are at least 9 of the 14 have made it to LA.

Do you mean 580? 580 departs LA at 2:58. 782 originates at Goleta.
