They could use the baggage cars on routes that have to have a minimum # of cars to trigger gates ? As for heritage baggage cars, Amtrak has more than are needed just to fill out consists.
Gordon Date: 10/17/18 20:12 Re: Question about Amtrak surplus equipment Author: OTG AMTK 21 was wrecked in a Grade Crossing collision in 2013. The other two were destroyed by fire back when all the GEs were spontaneously combusting about ten years ago.
Most of this list seems like scrap fodder. I'm sure even the few things on there that are serviceable (*COUGHparlourcarsCOUGH*) are probably on this list with intent to be sold for scrap value, rather than as useable equipment.
