Train 4(5) started out with the AMTK 114 and 171. The 171 failed multiple times
and an unsuccessful attempt was made to fix it at Kingman. Another try at Albuquerque
failed; this time, Amtrak had anticipated trouble and was prepared; it was set out, and
the BNSF 1770 added as leader.

sf sd40-2 yellow bonnet?  top speed 65?  abq switcher?

What about 6:42 late #11 at SLO? Power problems, weather, UFO?

Hey!  Do you remember when Amtrak kept a spare engine at Albuquerque?

The speed restriction hits harder too on all that 90mph track. It is certainly going to lose a lot more time. 

BNSF 1770 Yellowbonnet was put on this trian in ABQ area.
SUPER SUPER Rarea SD40-2 unit LEADING trian 4.
I hope he statys ON the train at KCY and east to Chicago IL.

I DREAM and HOPE BNSF 1770 stayes ON POINT ALL the way to CHI town for ALlof us Railcam watchers

Ah Albuquerque's Abajo Yard and it's staple of older EMD power. There are hardly any road units there and if so, are usually in a pair and spoken for the next repo vehicle or bare table train. 1770 is a good runner but 1755, which was used a while back, is better. Either way, it's awesome to see a Bonnet on the Chief again.

Although an Amtrak unit has long  been absent from relief duty at Abq when loco traction motors were unexpectedly crapping out , there are always a few old  road locos  at Abajo Yard just south of the depot, which power daily "flyer" transfer freights to and from Belen's Transcon yard, 32 miles south.

Looks like Delta Dick's Amtrak Wipeout  Plan is silently clanking right along, on top of slowly collapsing service and ridership nationwide
