Dynamic Rail Preservation (DynaRail), in conjunction with Nevada State Railway Museum Boulder City, is pleased to announce the movement of DynaRail owned ex Amtrak Locomotives 231 & 644 to their new location hosted at the Nevada State Railway Museum Boulder City. 

We are excited about the benefits and opportunities this will provide to DynaRail as well as the Nevada State Railway Museum. As a result, it will bring a wide reaching set of benefits and opportunities, not only to members of all organizations involved, but also to visitors from across the state, the US and the globe as well as the general public as a whole. 

As ownership of both engines remain with DynaRail, among those benefits and opportunities is the increased opportunity for DynaRail to eventually return both units back to serviceable condition, which will then afford the opportunity for the Nevada State Railway Museum Boulder City as well as Friends of the Nevada Southern Railway to enhance and expand their activities available to their visitors and the public. 

DYRX 231 is ex Amtrak F40PHR locomotive AMTK 231 built by EMD for Amtrak in 1977 and was retired by Amtrak in 2001. 

DYRX 644 is ex Amtrak SDP40F locomotive AMTK 644 built by EMD for Amtrak in 1974, sold to ATSF Railway in 1984 and retired by BNSF in 2002.

Did copper thieves get to 644, or does it have some other mechanical issue?

Any videos of the locomotives being picked up by 844?

Well Chris, my thoughts are that the 2 units will be safer in Boulder than they were in either Portland or Utah!
I'll plan on stopping by on my next trip to Palm Springs via Las Vegas.
