The eastbound Pensylvanian, Amtrak no. 42 ran from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg on Thursday behind 
a set of NS SD40E helper engines nos. 6313 and 6303. Top speed according to the Transitdocs 
app was 65.4 mph. Surprisingly they arrived into Harrisburg only 14 minutes late. They left the 
Harrisburg  station 35 minutes late, no doubt due to having to remove the NS engines and 
attach the Harrisburg protection engine. 
The westbound Pennsylvanian, Amtrak no. 43 appeared normal.

State of good repair 

On Jan 9, Regional 176 left Roanoke 2+ hours late, led by NS 4045. It's shown towing P42 181 and consist at Midland, VA. I guess all the protect engines are out of service.

This was due to a exhaust leak on the 181. They ALMOST had the Virginian unit as power.

Thanks, was curious what ailed the 181. The Virginian sure would have been an appropriate stand-in!
