CA on Donner Pass). Meanwhile, the CHP was shutting down parallel I-80 due to high winds and whiteout conditions. Rough day on The Hill today!

We went through an area west of LaPlata that had just experienced an ice storm and when we got up the track speed we were sucking up large quantities of ice that was peppering the underside of the car and making a tremendous racket. I was in the 330 car 3rd. behind the power and in room 12 so I had this serenade for about 45 minutes. At first I thought we had something dragging and kicking up ballast but fortunately it was only ice.

I remember getting a little bit of that working on #3 (Ice storms in Kansas), but I don't think I ever experienced 45min worth! Yeow. I worked mostly on the lower level of the Lounge/cafe (33000) and I never liked stuff banging around under my feet. I always imagined something coming up through the deck, which I sensed would be a bad thing...
