Passenger Trains > Maybe In 30 Years This Will Seem HistoricDate: 02/11/19 07:45 Maybe In 30 Years This Will Seem Historic Author: walstib Thirty years from now someone may look at this photo and say "ohhh, that's the last of the Surfliner F59 locomotives running in Southern California."
But yesterday, standing in the rain near Somis, train 1767 didn't feel particularly historic, especially given that the sun was shining here 10 minutes before the train arrived. Edited 1 time(s). Sort of like the last of Southern Pacific’s 3200s to pull a Peninsula commute. Liked their paint even better the the Amtrak California ones I rode behind and saw in Northern California. I’m not old enough to think that these are going to be historic someday. But then again, my kids say I’m really old since I was born in the 1900’s!

Part of the hard thing about documenting the last days of stuff is that it looks the same as its always looked for years but when people post photos of the last years of a branch or a customer or something, they always have a special historic charge. |
