NJ: Give us back our Atlantic City trains!
Author: Lackawanna484

NJ commuters on the Atlantic City line demand the return of their train service.  Although NJ Transit had said they needed federal OK to restore service, the feds said that wasn't true.  So the commuters boarded yet another bus and went to Newark to complain to NJ Transit.  (Like that would do any good)

The people from Southern New Jersey would never remember such things happening with the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Reading Company or the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines.

For the first 6 months of 2018, NJT did absolutely nothing about the crew shortages, which is what is driving this. They could have lifted the state residency ban and tried to hire and qualify rather quickly retirees from SEPTA, Conrail, MN, and LIRR.

3 weeks ago, the governor lied that were it not for FRA inspectors furloughed, it would be running by now. But PTC got nothing to do with it. The line only requires three 4-car train sets. Even if they got 1 trainset, they could run rush hours 1-1/2 round trips each period.

Corbett played with his phone for the duration of the Board meeting. The Board Chair is also the DOT Commissioner, and admittedly knows nothing about trains and buses. The whole organization is rigged and arrogant.

Unfortunately, many NJ agencies share that unfortunate description.
