#5 Skimming Through Alta, CA
Author: BoilingMan

A steady snow + a three day weekend + amateur hour on I-80?   Worse than Lions 'n Tigers 'n Bears!
Best shooting close to home today.
SR

This is the WB Zephyr passing through the cut just above Alta this afternoon, running about 3 or 4 hours late.  I trust passengers are warm & cozy enjoying the spectacle of a good Sierra Winter.

No!  And I'm kind of surprised too- the snow is above the rail all through here.  I guess they're getting away with it because it's more a powder that the usual cement- but still!   That's all gonna freeze tonight!

Yeah. We’re expecting another 3-6” at our 3500’ elevation tonight/tomorrow morning.

(it’s snowing right now).

Really like the B/W contrast in your photo.

Rarely do you see them chaining at Applegate as this morning. Are there chain signs lower than Applegate?

No, I sure don't think so...  chains at Appelgate?  THAT's impressive!

BTW:  Here's a photo of the RoW here at MP 156 last night around 9pm- we've got a little trench action going.  I heard an EB around 2am.
Once I'm fully caffeinated I'll walk out and have a look see it they did any clean up before dawn..
