Passenger Trains > Driver Goes Around Gates. Tie goes to #7

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel a driver went around lowered gates in Brookfield, WI (western suburb of Milwaukee). 7(18) hit it. The driver paid the ultimate price.
Happened around 4:15pm. As of 6:25 train is still there. No word on damage to train. Pushed the pickup about 1/2 Mile.

It's a long downhill to the tracks on Brookfield Rd.  Not sure of the road conditions, but he might not have been able to stop.
Plus the tracks are split there.  If he just looked at the EB main, then he didn't see any train, but the WB main is kind of a
blind spot with the depot blocking your vision.  I spent many a day there as a youth.  Sad!

Sounds to me like suicide by train.

What about the gates, lights, etc?

All automatic crossing warning devices were function properly if that's what you're asking.

He didn't see squat because he never bothered to look.  An eyewitness who was waiting with other drivers at the gates said he drove around all of them and onto the tracks.  Head up a$$, stupidity, or suicide...accidental or otherwise?

If he's 70, he's probably done in countless time before and got away with it.

Not so much as a tie, more like a loss goes to the driver.

If he was in his 70's, perhaps he had a terminal medical condition and decided to end it the quick and painless way.
