Passenger Trains > CZ woes going east after being held in denver over 9hours

amtrak boarded a sold out CZ i am guessing, in Denver, with all the closures out of colorado few airline passengers made it to Union Station on the A train , but now word is a grain bin has toppled, at any rate ,  the CZ was held in denver

60mph winds maybe the cutoff for for the CZ and amtrak trains in the west, they may have encountered those winds further east, rivers in iowa are rising.

Just saw the BNz train come thru akron w/b  so at least that part of the rr is moving, it should have been in denver 5 hours ago

   On the BNSF, 50-60 MPH slows us, 61 or over we stop and stage someone said,   

  5am           still a high wind warning for eastern colo well into the morning with gusts still at 60-61 mph, here at 5am


found an amtrak tweet no mention of anything fouling the track; just wind

 old tweet: California Zephyr Train 6 which departed Emeryville (EMY) on 3/12 is still currently stopped in Denver due to high wind warnings in the area. Train will be back on the move once weather has been cleared safe to resume travel.

BNSF allowed Amtrak train 6, the California Zephyr, to depart Denver, CO, early 14 March 2019 after layover at Denver Union Station-held for 9-hours, 14-minutes.  Epic blizzard has eastern Colorado at a standstill.  High winds and blowing snow has I-76 and I-70 along with most roads impassible or blocked with accidents.

watched the meet on wray cam 8 min ago, 6 is still holding on the very right of the cam

you be able see 5 thru yuma in a few, thru akron after that

5 and 6 met at Wray about 13:30 CDT. 6 is out of time and waiting on a crew from LNK that will go dead at 18:00 CDT so another crew will have to go west to get it to LNK. Then the BNSF platte river bridge at Ashland will probably be out of service and the river line will also probably be under water so 6 may sit in LNK for a long time.

6 left Wray about 14:40 CDT. Looks like BNSF still ristricting speed to 40 MPH.

No. 6 is on the move doing 40 and running over 16 hours late hading into McCook, Nebraska, the one TrainRidgingGal's on is only 36 down coming through the Rockies!

Thanks for asking about me. My destination this time was Reno so I've been able to watch the train I was on from here. Most of the passengers I talked with that we're going further knew and bright lots of snacks because of what happened in OR. Just heard from Amtrak that my train back to EMY Friday morning is currently seven hours down. My longest delay is thirteen hours on the Starlight and I'm hoping to not break that record!

8PM CT -- California Zephyr Train 6 that departed Emeryville (EMY) on 3/12 is currently operating about 19hr 30min late east of McCook (MCK) due to an unforeseen crew change caused by weather-related delays near Denver (DEN). We will update as more information becomes available.
