this is old news i was in thailand over two years ago and they had alrady agreed to a china-laos-thailand singapore line and were acting loike construction would start anyday,  kinda like plans in this country

China has invested extensively in port and rail facilities for places with strategic interest. And taken control when the locals don't pay up.

It is a well tried and tested technique of imperialism, perfected by the West in the recent past, and now being deployed by China.

But then this is a broader problem than just concerning funding of rail links, so is probably inappropriate to discuss further here.
