Passenger Trains > Both Crescents close to OT and Silver Meteor 98 8.5 hrs lateDate: 05/06/19 06:53 Both Crescents close to OT and Silver Meteor 98 8.5 hrs late Author: twropr Different train status this morningt that we are used to. Understand that thunderstorms in FL resutled in severe delays to #98 between Winter Park and Sanford that resulted in traiin needed to be recrewed. Both Crescents are running close enough to schedule that they might make their destinations On Time.

Date: 05/07/19 14:34 Re: Both Crescents close to OT and Silver Meteor 98 8.5 hrs late Author: Electroliner Local news said lightning struck a power pole and dropped a power line over the tracks just north of Orlando, resulting in the signals, gate controls and so forth being "fried." One rail joint they showed appeared melted. Really messed up SunRail. All crossings were flagged and trains moved at a crawl until this morning. Funny, impact on Amtrak was never mentioned in the TV news stories I saw, altho the usual "the conductor had to drive the trains very slowly at each crossing" was heard. Gotta love that.
