TWU responds on LIRR overtime
Author: Lackawanna484

The union representing many subway and rail workers has responded to the overtime political mess. A previous opinion thread discussed the uproar.

The union notes much of the work is done on an emergency call out, unplanned. The NY Times observes at least one guy was the sole person qualified to operate a testing process. No back up, no plan B. And he has retired.

What the heck is that about? A one guy specialty.

And there's no effective time management system.

Lots of blame to go around.

Commuter rail and subway workers are members of completely separate unions.
The file photo is of R32 subway cars, probably at 207th Street shops.

Yes.

Although both the subway / bus and the Rail workers were attacked by the Governor, only the TWU was quoted in the article. Pushing back, hard.

The article does say LIRR people are being disciplined for overtime.
