449 Today:07+ Hrs. to Go 200 Miles
Author: mp16

What next ? The Boston stubs of the Lake Shore do not seem to be having good luck these days. Today's 449 left Boston at 12:51 pm and arrived Albany at 7:57pm...less than 30 mph average speed. It left Back Bay (mp 01) at 12:59 pm and was at Framingham at mp 21 at 2:45 pm.
#49 left Albany late because of the late arrival of #449.

Anybody know what happened ? TIA

Amrak will claim pretty soon that because of the unreliability in scheduling, trains 448 and 449 will be turned into an Ambus. Full consist to be maintained but operated out of NYP.

449 made it as far as MP11 out of Boston before P42DC #123 caught fire. That’s why he is so late.

So that's not bad then, probably so close to Boston a spare engine was sent

I find it kind of hard to believe that Amtrak keeps a spare locomotive for 449 at Boston.

It makes me wonder though what they did do?

Good thing they do, 449 would've been screwed if that wasn't the case!
