A freight train has derailed outside of Taylor.

According to Union Pacific, it happened around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.   A spokesperson for Union Pacific says eight cars carrying industrial sand left the tracks entering the yard in Taylor. No one was injured, and there were no hazardous materials spilled.   


Amtrak says one of their passenger trains out of San Antonio has been cancelled due to the derailment.

They could have operated the train to FTW and turned it there.  Connecting bus to SAS would have worked fine.  

Why does Amtrak cut service and NOT operate every possible chance they get?  They do NOT want to be in the passenger business.  "It is too inconvenient and hard."
