It is interesting that that Surfliner blue matches the blue of the platform signs.  I wonder if that was deliberate?

English train cranks have nicknames for just about anything!
I was just talking to my American railway mate about the delights of bashing Peaks and rats back in the day and despising buckets, goyles and basically anything else from the Evil Empire ie English Electric.
