After the NYCT R179 fiasco with BBD, they were banned from the huge R211 car order, which will be for a base order of 535 cars,, but options for up to 1,077 cars. Only NJT wants to deal with that outfit.

Alstom built the C1 cars in Pittsburg, and I think Morrison-Knudsen also built the C2 cars there. I kind of wonder if they might raid the Seimens railcar plant over near Sacramento for employees, which seems to be doing quite well in that part of the world. Thank goodness BART has its own testing crew, because otherwise it would be far, far worse. They basically held BBD to their contracted word, rejecting many cars, which must be making BBD squirm like crazy, given their poor quality control during assembly.
