Any reason? I know that NS has been doing track and signal removal work west of HAR.

Delays over 25 or 30 minutes were pleasantly uncommon. Hopefully NS soon shakes the multiple kinks out of its massive signal-replacement campaign east of Pittsburgh. That's not to say that Amtrak never trips over its own feet, but in this case Occam's Razor seems to be pointing at the area west of Harrisburg.

Yesterday, despite 42 running extremely late, I saw that 43 did ok, at least as far as Altoona. I didn’t check the trip west of Altoona. I hope that the work that NS is doing gets done sooner rather than later. They are installing a completely new signal system, meaning every signal, insulated joint, relay box, cab signal generator, etc. is completely new. Plus all of the apparatus required for future PTC implementation. Some of the cutovers on the line have been flawless, and others....not so much. Jon |
