Passenger Trains > Amtrak train/auto fender-bender in Omaha

Amtrak passenger train No. 6, the California Zephyr, collided with a SUV early this morning in South Omaha.  There was minor damage to the motor vehicle.  The driver refused medical treatment, according to local TV reports.  Amtrak is the “invisible” railroad in Omaha.  You rarely hear anything about it.

The train at 10:29 a.m., CDT, is out in Iowa running 2 hours, 29 minutes late.

5:09 p.m. update:  The Mazda Suv was hit under the L Street overpass, not at a grade crossing.  It is not known how the motorist drove up onto the tracks.
