Passenger Trains > Record Flooding Will Likely Affect the CZ in Nebraska

A major flash flood situation developed over south central Nebraska Monday evening with 10-11" of rain over the Wood River Basin. A record crest, slightly exceeding April's record, is forecast for the town of Elwood and areas a few miles downstream. This will wash out the BNSF Railway which also carries the CZ.

Can’t catch a break on this run!!

Confusing post, since according to topo maps the Wood River basin is north of the Platte River, along the UP transcon.  Elwood is south of the Platte, so in a separate drainage area, and Amtrak doesn't run on the line through Elwood.  #6 just left McCook heading east, though between there and Holdrege it will cross creeks draining some of the heavy rain areas.

Looks like 6 is holding at McCook and 5 is at Lincoln. Both are in service disruption.

Not sure if there is a bus bridge or not.

: California Zephyr Train 5 which departed Chicago (CHI) on 7/8 is currently stopped at Lincoln (LNK) due to water reported over the rail. Track inspector en route. We will update as more information becomes available.

Same info for 6 but it's at McCook.
