What a disappointment Ellis turned out to be.

I'm just waiting for someone to post what a misunderstood genious and hero he was and that none of this is his own fault. 

It's what I expect from the former Amtrak VP, Mail and Express.

Why?

I'll gladly speak up for Ed Ellis who I consider a friend. He took a lot of cutting edge risks to try to expand the menu available in the lower 48 for those who love travel by train. Several turned out to be costly experiments and that coupled to the FRA loan issue put his enterprise into the serious hurt locker.

   To his credit, rather than take the easy way out via a bankruptcy filing he has been trying to get all his creditors paid off best he can.

    I'd suggest that all reserve judging him too harshly until you take the kind of risks he has.

And I submit that those innocents who worked for or were suppliers to his enterprises did not take knowingly such risks and, as always, these 'little' folks are who really suffer.  Bernie Madoff probably talked up high risk, high reward and that didn't end too well.
