Passenger Trains > Amtrak Chief 3 and 4 without semaphores

Photo 1 - In the late afternoon of August 27, Amtrak 4 led by 16 is departing Trinidad, CO past the old C&S yard location that was bypassed when BN was rerouted past the town center with a shorter horseshoe. The yard area is mostly empty with the old main line truncated just beyond a crossing, and only used for material storage. Behind Amtrak is an old Santa Fe yard which has more tracks but is also virtually unused. Photo 2 - Westbound Amtrak 3 is climbing Raton Pass at Wootton led by 86 in the morning of August 28.
