October19
NJ Transit usually pulls out all the stops to provide service.
In the past, diesel, EMU, electric motors, single and multilevel cars have been used.

Let's hope that NJT has gotten their act together with having more crew and equipement available to cover these runs. With race day just over a month away and NJT being in very dismal shape right now, it doesn't sound promising and I didn't see anything mentioned in the link about NJT providing extra service, although it is too early to tell.

The Steeplechase, as it's known, will have the usual extra trains that it has had for well over the 22 years I've been with NJT. The issues with engineer shortages continue to get less and less. Not sure why people think THIS year Transit will have a problem providing crews.

The Steeplechase, or Hunt, as it's sometimes known, is a textbook operation in hauling large numbers of people on a single track line.

These folks really have the operation nailed down.

It is probably an awful job to work, but a great opportunity to see unusual equipment on the branch with good lighting during the day.

Yes, when the Steeplechase is happening in Far Hills, that is a wonderful time to see the majority of the types of equipment that NJT uses on the branch on a weekend. Of course, when trains are operating on weekends on the Gladstone Branch, it is all Arrow III sets.
