Passenger Trains > S.F.Muni and the Warriors New ArenaDate: 09/07/19 17:46 S.F.Muni and the Warriors New Arena Author: milepost20 The Golden Stare Warriors new arena--the Chase Center in San Francisco--opened Friday night
hosting Metallica. With very limited off street parking in the neighborhood the S.F. Muni's T-line will be expected to carry a heavy burden. The old UCSF/Mission Bay station has been renamed to UCSF/Chase Center and undergone an expensive upgrading. The old short outside platforms are gone rdeplaced by a new 320' long center island platform. New crossovers are in place immediately north and south of the station along with new signalling. A southbond T-line service is seen just leaving the Chase Center stop in the first photo. The next view shows a southbound at the double crossovers just north of the stop. These crossovers allow trains to access either track and each platform face can hold two 2-car trains. During heavy demand events some trains can thus change ends and flip back downtown while others continue their regular run south on the T-line. Final photo looks north at the new platform. Note the mid-platform signal that facilitates the operation of two trains travelling in the same direction to simultaneously serve the station. By all accounts things went well the first night: https://www.sfexaminer.com/news/no-traffic-no-problems-chase-centers-transit-push-strikes-sweet-note-for-metallica-concert/ Date: 09/07/19 19:13 Re: S.F.Muni and the Warriors New Arena Author: atsf121 Thanks for posting the photos, haven’t been through Mission Bay for a few years now, need to make it back. Crazy that the Warriors are “down the street” from the Giants. That was the big stadium deal back when I was working in The City.

Really?????? Sacramento and other cities can run 4-car trains, but MUNI is still stuck on wimpy 2-car trains. Their underground stations can easily handle 3-car trains, so why not go with those???????
Getting there is going to be so much harder than going to the old Oakland site..... Date: 09/07/19 21:50 Re: S.F.Muni and the Warriors New Arena Author: cchan006 coach Wrote:

Have you ever ridden the MUNI light rail before? If you have, your comment here doesn't show it. Note the coupler on the front of the Siemens car in the first photo. Even the Breda and the long-gone Boeing LRVs coupled together to run 4 car trains. Date: 09/08/19 07:02 Re: S.F.Muni and the Warriors New Arena Author: chuchubob |
