Passenger Trains > Texas Eagle short-turning at Ft. WorthDate: 09/13/19 16:30 Texas Eagle short-turning at Ft. Worth Author: GenePoon Because of a derailment at Holland TX, Texas Eagle 21(12) will terminate at Ft. Worth.
22(14) will originate at Ft. Worth. Bustitution for missed stops. Date: 09/14/19 05:04 Re: Texas Eagle short-turning at Ft. Worth Author: sums007 What happens to the passengers who are riding beyond San Antonio on this train? I'm sure they also get buzzed to SA, but what does, say, a sleeping car passenger do from there on?

It's amazing how they make this thrice weekly connection work without an imbalance of equipment. Date: 09/14/19 09:44 Re: Texas Eagle short-turning at Ft. Worth Author: BobB I did this the first time I rode the Eagle to LA and it got hit by signal failures due to thunderstorms in Missouri and Arkansas. The problem is that you can't get on the standby equipment until it's coupled to the Sunset, so we spent the night at the San Antonio station waiting for a very late Sunset, which then took an hour to couple up the two cars. This was all preliminary to further delays (this was in the bad old days of the UP not knowing how to run the line and not caring about Amtrak) in which we got dog-caught two or three times, stopped to pick up UP freight crews that had died, and ended up 16 hours late into LA.

It was operating very close to on-time. Four coaches, so I expect one of them was added at St. Louis.
